PREPARING FOR YOUR KITTEN
Foods We Recommend
Brands of canned (wet) kitten food we recommend.
(we no longer use Blue Buffalo, as our cats and kittens have turned their noses up at it.)
Brands of recommended dry kibble kitten food. Some of our old recommended foods have been changed according to new research in cat wellness, i.e., low phosphorus.
Treats We Recommend: the best ones are made from freeze-dried raw meat, because wild is what cats eat naturally, and freeze-dried because it preserves most of the nutrients lots during high heat processing, which occurs during the formation of both canned and dry foods. Freeze dried treats help to bridge the gap if you don't feed any raw food to your cat.
Siberian Kittens Love to Play! Interactive toys are high on their list.
We recommend these toys to keep them entertained.
Since cats like to "hunt," the Doc & Phoebe toys below, which encourage them to actually hunt for their food, can prevent the boredom and unpleasant behaviors that can result when they don't know what else to do to fulfill those hunting drives. We HIGHLY recommend including these toys in your home.
Doc & Phoebe Cat Puzzle
Scratching Post - Tall and made of sisal material
Cat Tower - make sure it's very sturdy
Da Bird - perhaps the BEST wand toy ever invented
Turbotrack - they especially like the ones with the lighted blinking ball
Doc & Phoebe mice wait to be hunted
Cat carriers, depending on your need and future travel plans.
A hard-sided carrier is good for short trips like those to the vet.
A soft sided one works well for airline travel in-cabin, under the seat in front of you.
A larger tent is good for longer car trips, as there's room for a bed and litter box.
Plastic Pet Carrier
Soft Sided Pet Carrier
(good for airline travel)
Multi Pet Tent
